A friend is participating in this annual event today, and just posted a photo of current conditions in Haines Junction, YT. It snowed a couple inches overnight!

Should be interesting. The relay finishes in Haines, AK. I've done it before. Really a blast-in nice weather. Needless to say, it's been a tad chilly in SE Alaska lately too.

Super cool. I hope they dont redo the 25th annual race next.year. Seems like that would be discounting the unicycle team's go at it this year

Good point, though the race officially never happened. If the uni team had known it had been cancelled at leg 1, I wonder if they would have done it anyway. I assumed teams/individuals would be refunded, but no.

Interesting that one of the guys has rode his unicycle on all 7 continents. That means Antarctica too, so he's used to snow conditions.

Funny that the event organizers admitted that 25 years ago, at the inception of the event, they thought no one would be foolish enough to bike the entire course solo. This year, I believe there were over 90 soloists signed up.

Last time it snowed in Haines Junction on that day in June was 1945.

Yep, I'd considered that, but I think it's more important to acknowledge the uni team's 2017 experience. I'd also wondered if they would have gone on if they'd known it was canceled, but they seem like an intense group of folks, so maybe!

The guy that's ridden on all seven continents... total badass, and that is all there is to say about it!

Last time it snowed in HJ on that day was the day of my mom's birth. Happy birthday, Mama!
