Not to say I told ya so over and over, but this is the real Alaskan summer. Days to weeks on end of overcast drizzle. Stated it here last fall and about got ran out of the room by those who have short term memories, due to being spolied last summer. This summer we are having now, is the typical, average Alaskan summer. But not to worry, a few more weeks of this, then we will be well on our return trip to old man winter. In 7 days from now, the days, once again begin growing shorter. More rain, drizzle, thick black clouds.

Just returned from a trip, 8 glorious days of unconditional sunshine. Damn it was nice!

Been lot's of sun here in central peninsula. Matter of fact I need rain bad. I'd love to see a week of rain. I'll admit it's been cold and late for gardens tho. But hey...it's Alasaka...I'll gladly take whatever she gives me. Matter of fact I love a rainy day. Cleans the air. I...for one...am enjoying it! And I have had no rain!

I was at the demonstration. I sure hope our Legislature DOES listen to all of us!

It seems a no brainer to me, we NEED GAS NOW! The weather WAS lovely, even the thunder shower, I just hope none spark fires this year, the smoke gets a bit much....

Understandable, but when you live someplace where its been 80*+ since last December you tend to appreciate rain & snow.

It's been beautiful and sunny here in Homer. Then, 20 minutes later, rainy. Then 20 minutes later, beautiful and sunny. It's even been in the 50s a couple of times.

I am one of those who like the rain - drizzle doesn't keep me from tramping about outdoors. The thing I've noticed in the past week is the day begins cloudy and drizzly but by the eve the sun comes out and it tends to warm a bit. It's beautiful, I say. I feel for Barkley - I do not miss the heat in the slightest!!!
Yesterday was beautiful - sunshine from the time I woke until early eve. It has been drizzling since then, and the green has intensified seemingly overnight. You will not hear this sot complain...

Been there and done that! One huge draw for us moving to Alaska was the cooler to cold temps. If you've lived your entire life in an area that has temps 90+ for at least 7 months of the year, you tend to grow weary of it. There is such a thing as too much sunshine. When it's so hot that you can't appreciate the summer then there isn't much reason to live there. The humidity in the area we lived was awful. Forget doing anything outdoors--heat stroke! For me it was migraines due to the excessive heat and sunlight. Add to that the hurricanes, flooding and tornadoes and you've got an area you tend to not miss. And actually the area we moved from had not only lots of rain, at times, but lightening and thunder. I don't miss the heat and too much sunlight and virtually no winter weather but I will confess I do on occasion miss the nice sound of rumbling thunder. Otherwise I must say this being my first summer in Ak has been The Best summer ever! When I talk to family and friends who still live in the area where temps are soaring(and so are tempers!!) they are quite envious of our cool temps.
