Gracias, Mr. Rance, for removing my personal information from a certain post.

Dinner was lovely.

It's warm out so I believe I'll adjourn to the veranda for a spot of refreshment.

See above.
It's all the same. There isn't a honest politician around.

Actually, the Republicans lost, but not by a very wide margin. If I well remember, Obama won 58 to 42% (something like that), which is not any different than in most presidential elections. I do agree that the Republicans have self destroyed.

Right on Awakening Escapade!!! Alaska has to do better. There will be no way she is re-elected in 2010 and thus she won't be nominated in 2012.

I just can't figure it....you, a person from California coming to this forum to ridicule the Alaska governor. Just look at your governor and the state of the economy of CA

And if you look at what is going on right now, they are condemning themselves to extinction.

I am an independent and a liberal (in the true sense of the word, not in the pejorative sense right wingers in America have come to use it). In fact, there are some conservative ideas that appeal to me (eg. immigration reform). But when I look at the kinds of people - the Palin-esque anti-science, anti-intellectual, 10th C mindset religious zealots - that have come to characterize and dominate the Republican party, there is just no way for me to align with them.

The two are not mutually exclusive. I can ridicule BOTH the CA and the AK governor. Even a baby that has just popped out could have figured this out.

Instead of a 16 point margin of victory it was in fact 52% to 46%. 6% more Americans wanted Obama verses McCain. Also, if you really go back and look, Obama is doing exactly what he said he would do, changing America. I personally love America and though some things need fixing, I don't want it changed. He promised higher taxes (and although he said it was only going to be on the top 5% of earners, you just wait) and his spending bill + budget is not going to be funded only by the top 5%. Even if you confiscated 100% of the money from the top 5% of earners you couldn't pay for those new porkulus bills. Obama balloons the budget deficit to 2 trillion dollars and then promises to cut it in half (to 1 trillion if you're good at math). A 1 trillion dollar budget shortfall is bigger than anything during the past 8 years. Wake up America, things are changing and it's our children who are paying for it, mine are 3 and 1 and they have no idea.
