Thursday, August 27, 2009 ACNHORAGE, Alaska -- A new report says Alaskans are paying nearly three times more for basic cable than people in the Lower 48.The report from the Alaska Public Interest Group, says GCI customers pay between 60 and 250 percent more for basic cable TV packages than customers in comparable markets Outside.
GCI says its process are competitive within this market, especially considering the high cost of living.

well given the "high cost of living" they should be give'n a break not charg'n more!!! If it was a high pay scale that would be different...seems some big wig has misconstruded his definition of words!!!

I was just talking to a friend about this issue yesterday. I think we are getting ready to move and I think I'll just hook up an antenna at our new place.

Has anybody used the Apple TV. Can you watch regular programming or do you have to pay for episodes? Just curious.

Every now and then I see something on tv worth paying attention to. The last time I actually watched it for more than a couple of minutes was on July 3rd of this year. Glad I caught the good news in time to make it to the liquor store before all the champagne was bought up

I have it on again tonight. Good job, Carolyn. Sometimes the satellite is worth it.

I have satellite TV and Internet... don't mind the cable guys going broke one bit... not to mention that my TV is much better than Cable to start with, and the Internet is much faster than anything else around this area of Alaska.

I don't know what Starlite has, but at times, the Starband we have here seems impossible.
