Over the past few weeks I have called a bunch of businesses in TN to give them my new address. I have had to spell Juneau to each and every person I talked to. Even so..........I received my Verizon bill today - addressed to Juno Alaska.

IF they got the Zip right....you should have accomplished it, regardless of spelling blips and a lot of companies now just punch in the zip and it should come up Juneau...laughing here... Just another one of life's pleasures I am sure you don't need right now

Before we left Asheville, NC I filled out change of address cards at the Post Office for there and our other address and everything has been forwarded. On each of those forwarded items is a yellow stickon which said they had notified the sender of our new address. That solved the problem real quick. We still get an occasional letter with the forwarding sticker and I peel it off and send it to the offender and that seems to be taking care of those who can't follow directions. Of course Verizon is a problem all its own. We still have our Verizon cell phones with the old Tennessee number and in two weeks we will pick up new phones in Los Angeles since we can't have them activated up here. They're willing to let us keep using them up here and we get excellent service. The only hassle is we are still paying Tennessee's outrageous taxes on our cell phones because we still have Tennessee phone numbers. Our billing address is here but Verizon can't figure out that part.

Hmmmm.....TN taxes. Never thought about that.

Haven't done the post office "change of address" thing yet because I still have a guy and a house down there. Called about credit card, medical bills, cell phone, and they're all the numbskulls who don't know how to spell Juneau. Other stuff (utilities, house payments etc) are still down there.

I just thought it was funny that a national company spelled Juneau "Juno" and I live in BFE out of town, and the bill still got to me.

Verizon won't let you do a change of number?? it is called "relocation phone number" no charge. We have AT&T and I had our numbers changed to RI and they will be changing mine to a Alaska number next month....as for forwarding mail...yikes we had a nightmare of a time with ours and it was just from MA to RI...no mail, including paychecks for 5 weeks! I did the forwarding thing online. Then we found out the Federal Gov and Postal System will not forward certain mailing, banking statements, certain bills,etc....anything with a bulk mailing permit basically soooo we are still having an issue getting mail, this is gone on now for 5 months! Thanks for the tip on the yellow sticker idea....love it!

NOTHING is worse than Verizon.....they suck big-time

When I disconnected my LAST land-line for good I instructed them to remove all their wires and boxes and crap (3 buildings)....they of course refused telling me that is not the way its done as future owners will require the service....

I told them they had til noon or I'd rip it all out and they could pick it all up on-the-ground outside my gate....they didn't believe me til an area rep showed up the following morning to discover quite a pile of crap right where I told them it would be...

We have consecutive numbers on two phones which are past their two year contract by over a year. This means we are now on a month to month basis and they can't change our plan until we change phones. Our phones still work but we can't get new batteries for them. We get decent reception on extended service here plus all our children and friends are on Verizon so we see no reason to change. When we go to Los Angeles in two weeks we'll pick up new phones and I have found out we can keep our same numbers. Verizon doesn't care where we are as long as we pay our bill and they have a contract with the local provider to handle these calls. Tennessee has 10% sales tax and I object to paying them sales tax on my phone when my billing address is Anchorage, Alaska. I think at this point they feel that as long as we have a Tennessee area code we should pay their sales tax. I'm sure Alaska has some kind of tax and I'd prefer to pay it here than to those thieves in Tennessee. I like the idea of being on Verizon in the lower 48 since they have such good coverage and we get good service here.
