I'm currently occupying a 1 BR apartment in downtown Albany with electric, heat and hot water included, but for various reasons I'm going to be moving out October 1.
Because it's been a while since I've had to worry about utility costs, I'm not sure what I should budget for utilities when I'm looking at housing options where they're not included.
What do people pay in the capital region for their National Grid bills every month (electric and/or gas heat)?
If I end up in a place with oil heat, how often does the oil company fill the tank and how much do you pay when they do?
Any information anybody local could provide would be greatly appreciated.
This all depends on what temps you are ok with. I am in a 3 BR relatively energy efficient with gas heat electric forced air and this winter we spent about $200 a month on heat and electric to keep it 65 degrees. Highest was about $275. Lowest during spring/fall is about $115. Water bill was separate at about $30 per month.
