Can anyone recommend an endocrinologist in the Albany/Schenectady area? I need someone who is up to date in dealing w/hypothyroidism, and will treat based on symptoms not just numbers. Thanks!

Reason: spelling
I've gotten 2 bad reviews from friends about that place. Actually I've only heard bad things about the endos around here. Nothing great. Thanks for the reply though.
Dr. Michael Walker at The Endocrine Group (Washington Ave....across from the college). I've had a pituitary tumor removed, and he's monitoring the hormone replacement for me since 2005. I've been very satisfied with him.

Unfortunately good medical care in the Capital Region is hard to find. We have asked everyone we know along with nurses at various clinics and everyone has the same complaint: doctors in the area are not well thought of.
My spouse went to the endo group and although they were extremely thorough, after two visits, only with a PA, he was told they needed to schedule surgery. HUH? Never saw a doctor and now wanted to perform surgery?
We decided to keep our doctors in NJ (who are excellent) and travel three hours rather than wait three hours in a doctor's office here.
A friend of mine is being treated at The Endocrine Group and she's been happy with them.
The problem with "word of mouth" about medical care is that you're likely to hear all the horror stories; if everything goes the way it should people don't go around talking about how wonderful their doctors are...

Unfortunately in the capital region we have been trying to get recommendations for various doctors and EVERY, not MOST, health professional we have asked for a recommendation has told us to stick with the doctors in NJ, as they aren't happy with the doctors THEY have. I have recommended, several times, the EXCELLENT doctors and services available at the Summit Medical Group in Berkeley Heights, NJ on several C-D forums and wish there was something comparable in this area.
Thanks everyone! I've got an appointment, but it's not til the end of August. In the mean time I've switched meds and seem to be better on it.
