I saw it in Placitas a couple days ago. It was about 25 yards from me. My hunch is that it was looking for water.

Bobcats have the pointed hairy ears as well, but since bobcat is a sbdivision of lynx, it's all good.

That's cool. Dh and I saw one of these two years ago in a hotel parking lot wandering around in Sierra Vista AZ. At first we thought it was a large house cat but then we looked at the ears and knew it wasn't. This hotel parking lot was in the middle of town! But of course, Sierra Vista is in the middle of the desert. A pretty cool experience.

A young mountain lion met an untimely death on a busy street near residential neighborhoods on Albuquerque's West Side on Tuesday.

State Game & Fish officer Ross Morgan said the yearling female was prowling neighborhoods all along Unser Boulevard, south of Volcano Vista High School.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Shortly after two bears were spotted in the northwest area of the metro, residents have caught a glimpse of yet another wild animal. Only this time, it wasn't a bear.
Anita Bruce didn't believe her husband Wednesday evening. She thought he was telling a tall tale

"My husband came in and said there's a bobcat in the front yard. Of course, I didn't believe him," she said. "I went to the security cameras and then I saw this guy walking across. And sure enough, big bobcat."

I used to live in Placitas. A mother bobcat, whom we called Bobbie, brought her kittens over to our place all the time. I think they liked the coolness of our rear courtyard grass in summer. Here's a pic taken near our birdbath.

Oh, how adorable, nmguy! The momma was always well-behaved, too, right?

Yes, Elkotronics, Bobbie was always well-behaved. We only saw her from inside the house, never while outside. She liked our place because of the birdbath and the shade (we had a big tree).

She also visited our neighbors' houses, spreading her charm. Never heard a complaint about her comportment. Ha.
