Does anyone know what happened there? I saw a movie there a few weeks ago and then suddenly it was shut down.

There was no hint that I could tell of the upcoming shutdown.

It is apparently closed and the building is up for lease, but no real reason what happened.

Some interesting math:

UA Four Hills 10 (vacated)
+ UA Winrock 6 (razed)
______________
Regal Winrock Stadium 16 (opened recently)

(Regal and UA are the same company now).

Time's a-changing: I have not been to a movie theater in ten years; every feature film can be found online.

I wish we'd get a theater with dinner type facility. Or do we have one and I just haven't discovered it yet?

Awesome thanks for sharing.

Yukon it looks like this new theater will have an all-you-can-eat popcorn and soda option so there you go.

Not quite what I meant, LOL. I was thinking more along the lines of Studio Movie Grill, Alamo Drafthouse, CineBistro or (my favorite) The Tampa Pitcher Show.

Before it got converted into a church, the Lobo Theater in Nob Hill was toying with the dinner-and-brewpub option. However, they wanted to share a liquor license with Kelly's Brewpub (the two businesses had the same owner at the time) and other bars in Nob Hill objected. Done right - and legally - I think it would be a great idea, especially now that we have so many more local brewery options around. But alas, I don't see Calvary Chapel relinquishing their hold on the Lobo anytime soon. Too bad...nothing against the church, but a dinner theater and brewpub (I'm thinking the Plaza Theater in Oakland or the McMenamins Bagdad in Portland) would fit in a whole lot better with Nob Hill's retail, dining and entertainment options.
