Can anyone give me a good place to get firewood--preferably cheap firewood? Somewhere in Cloudcroft or in Alamogordo or inbetween. Thanks!

You can get it for free in the slash pits here in Timberon. You've got to pick it up and cut it down yourself, but it's free.

As you're coming into Timberon, take a right at the stop sign onto Sacramento. Take the next right onto Pawhuska. Follow it until it T's into Riverside. Take a right (on Riverside) and then your first left onto Southern Pacific. Keep following Southern Pacific (single lane), it will turn into Pioneer and the slashpit will be on your left.
There's a bunch of wood ready to be taken.

I forgot to say that Southern Pacific doesn't have a sign but it's the first left after turning on Riverside.

Default what is the best way to buy fireplace wood

Hello,
We have a fireplace in the house we are renting. What/where is the best place to buy wood? No truck so we cannot cut it ourselves.
Thanks

In the old days (meaning the 1990s and earlier), folks would load up their pick-ups with cord wood and sell it along the side of Tramway. Maybe some folks still do this?

You might also try craigslist for firewood.

If you are up for a drive and not looking to take huge loads, you could go down to the firewood lot in Tajique right across from the shop and load up your car trunk.

Depends on how much you want.

There are people selling wood, rocks, cantelopes, watermelon, wooden furniture etc on the east side of Corrales road just north of Alemeda Blvd (Just past the Flying Star Cafe and mini-mall).

A little closer to middle of Albuquerque is along 2nd street (say between Griegos & PDN), where vendors can be found from time to time.

A certain auction house has been known to auction off cords and ricks of precut firewood. Begins with a B. Not sure if they're still doing it. Suppose you could buy a rick and then cart back a backseatful/trunkful at a time. The thing that's horrible about firewood is if you're using it for primary heat, you go through so much so fast.

There's always hardware stores, too, which are known to carry armful-sized bundles.
