The news story was confusing, they started out talking about the Southeast Heights, and finished with most popular zip code, 87108, which goes way beyond Southeast Heights and includes the International District up to Wyoming Blvd. The footage of houses and parks was all along Ridgecrest Drive or a block away.

Even worse, at the end of the video they have a mistake, they show a map of 87116 where 87112 should be, north of I-40, and they call it Kirtland Air Force Base, which is obviously not where KAFB is. It's amazing how newscasters can fail in knowledge of the city they're supposed to be covering.

Journalists and news presenters are often transient, getting educated in one area then going where the jobs are, so they are not neccesarily deeply familar with their turf, which in my opinion goes against the basics of journalistic integrity. But then again, journalism is not really journalism these days.

It may not be the individual budding journalist's fault so much as it is due to changes in the news busines in general and how it has changed to something that used to be considered one part business, one part community service into all business and the bottom line.
