Anything more special than doing it on a regular (or holiday) weekend? I'd like to take the kids to it at least once while we are here.

You might be thinkin' of the Trinty Site Spring "showing"
I think it's April 1st (help 6/3! LOL). (I think they are April 1st and October 1st?) Just twice a year you can go right to the actual "ground zero" spot at Trinity Site. If I remember they have a small ceremony then too.
Otherwise it is closed to the public the rest of the year- actual ground zero.
And I can't remember for positive, I think it's at Sunrise?

And ya know, I can't remember for sure, this year's Easter I think might be April 19th? (where is that calendar of mine LOL )

Thought I'd post this tho as that is what came to my mind for your question

Easter is April 12th this year. Thanks for the Trinity site reminder. I am going to have to look it up. Dh is not interested in White Sands but he is interested in the Trinity Site so maybe I can work out a combo trip.

Trinity Site tours are on the 1st Saturday of April and October twice a year. Trinity Site is just about halfway between Albuquerque and White Sands National Monument if you make the trip from Albuquerque.
