I've been thinking of expanding the number of sets of wine glasses and beverage glasses that I have. I'm starting to entertain more in my home and I don't always have the correct glasses for various drinks which is upsetting to me. How many various types of drink glasses do you have? How many should a person who entertains have? Below is what I currently have, what other glasses should I invest in?

I should note, I strictly buy Waterford crystal for beverage glasses. I try to stick to one manufacturer for a uniformity of presentation when entertaining and Waterford seems to be about the best mainstream crystal you can buy. Here's what I have from them:

Red Wine Glasses (8)
White Wine Glasses (8)
Pilsner Glasses (4)
Champagne Flutes (8)
Martini Glasses (4)
Old Fashioned Glasses (4)
Shot Glasses (4)
Iced Beverage Glasses (4)

What else should I have? Off the top of my head, I'm thinking I should get:

Double Old Fashioned Glasses (4)
Highball Glasses (4)
Brandy Snifters (4)
Liqueur Glasses (4)

Anything I'm forgetting? What does everyone here use?

Lets see... 4 different types of wine glasses, 2 different kinds of old fashioned glasses, martini glasses, 2 different kinds of champagne flutes, can't count how many shot glasses.

Then there are the beer glasses. As a certified beer geek, I collect them. tons of pint glasses, multiple tulips, Chimay chalaces, Stone IPA glasses, virtually every type of Stone Brewing glassware, actually, Lagunitas mason jars, Hefeweizen glasses, pilsner glasses, and many many more. I have 2 cabinets dedicated to glassware.

- Water goblets - -

We also have a bunch of German beer mugs - - they aren't exactly what people think of as "steins" - but they are pottery[have some glass ones too] and they 1/2 litre and run of the mill in southern Germany, called humpen- - bought from a bunch of breweries, they are gray or biege, fat, and about 6 inches tall and about the most versitle things we ever bought in Germany! Thanks Hackerbrau, Lowenbrau, Fuchs et al! Keep the beer cool or mulled wine hot. [Like our Romer-type German wine glasses too]

Also have a bunch of tiny demitasse size cups and sucers used for glogg. None matching - inherited.

- sherry flutes - also inherited - - don't think flutes are used for sherry or "cordials" any more

I have three sets of cordial glasses alone!

What I don't have are water goblets, and I do like them.

They make some really interesting cordial glasses now -- tempted but we have tons of glassware, much inherited and could set a great high victorian table if it was our style ---hard to believe there were so many different specific things to drink out of!

Well, if you drink whiskey, I'd suggest a glencairn glass. It's made specifically for whiskey but works well with many liquors. I love mine.

other than adding liqueur glasses and maybe Brandy snifter (which I don't think many really use anymore) you are fine.
