I grew up in little guyana, new york... I really like Guyanese people and they really like me... I always wanted to go there, Im pretty sure I would be treated like a king... Guyanese people just love me.... I have friends that go there to visit family, they like it because they see familiy and stuff, mostly in GT, georgetown the capital... I don't know how life is in the jungle... The jungle and interior of the country tends to have a higher concentration of indigenous, with very few people... While, the majority of the rest of the country is mostly ancestors from India and Africa... The food is mostly curry its real good... I like Roti the best...
I've been there- it is gorgeous and the people were so welcoming and friendly. Liked it so much that I looked into working with an NGO and moving there for a few years, but private schools are not permitted and there would be security/kidnapping issues if my kids attended public school there.
I didn't get into the rain forest on my trip, though. Stayed in Georgetown, but got out to Linden, Mahaica, Demerera.

Hi. I am a Guyanese. Our country is very beautiful and compared to when I visit other countries, we are most hospitable. Our city is not very developed but the sights of the city are beautiful and represent quite a chunk of our history. Our A-class public schools do not have the kidnapping and other issues of the other schools. Guyana is probably the most balanced country as it relates to greenhouse emissions. You are welcome to visit anytime and enjoy our country. One other thing - our main staple food is rice unlike many other countries would have rice as a side dish and our roti is second to that of Trinidad and Tobago in the world in terms of quality. Guyana is a nature paradise and the majority of our forests are untouched with only a few Amerindian settlements.
I think the most interesting thing about Guyana is the Indian population... very unique amongst other western countries.
the Brits brought Indians to other places to work, Mauritius, Fiji, Jamaica, South Africa...
In neighboring Suriname around 34% of the population is Indian (and 15% are of Indoneisan origin)
Look up 'Jonestown Massacre' before going to Guyana. Disturbing stuff
