LOL.... Island Fever....no. Being born and raised here I'm used to the climate. Unless you mean something else by island fever. It's pretty good here!

By "island fever", I think yelllowsnow was asking if you ever feel constrained or boxed in because you're on a small island.

Jamaica, of course, is not a small island. It's several hundred miles long with different micro climates and plenty of different things to see and do.

Over to you Mr88 to fill us in on the details.

A bit of a generic opinion-based question, but are most Jamaicans you know happy with their life on the island? What are the chief complaints you hear about from fellow Jamaicans, and do you know of many who have left or have expressed any desire to leave?

I used to work with a Jamaican guy, also from Montego Bay, who left because of the crime. He told me the murder rate was out of control (I just googled it and Montego Bay's murder rate is 28 times that of New York) and that he just never felt safe no matter where he was, and while he would love to return (he HATES the cold weather) and misses the island greatly, he says he just can't until the situation improves, especially as he now has a family and doesn't want to subject his children to such violence.

Here are some questions. What kind of climate do you get across the island in different areas? How often does it rain? What are the average highs and lows?

I attended a military academy in Miami when I was in high school. We had a number of students from Jamaica and one of my friends was from Kingston. He offered to hook me up with his sister. I think I missed out on a good thing, mon!
