We have recently adopted a Border Collie/terrier mix that came to us from an Idaho rescue group. She's adorable but shaggy as all get out and shedding terribly and needs a bath and trim. We are looking for someone that is reliable and kind as she is a wiggly young pup/dog. We groom our other dog (Airedale) ourselves out of necessity but I have no idea what to do with this type of silky long coat and would hate to butcher it.

Thanks in advance.

We took our border collie/shepherd mix to Chewy's in Eagle River. They were great with her. It might be a drive for you depending on where you live but we really liked them.

When I lived in Wasilla, there was an awesone new groomer between Wasliia/Palmer on the Wasliia/Palmer HWY. That was in 2008. I would think they would still be there. Had a brand new facility and I had a new Bichon. I had her there twice before I moved out of state. They were very good. Unfortunately I don't recall the name. But if you called the Palmer Vet Clinic, I bet they would know.

Thanks for the replies thus far. I'm in Anchorage and it's often months between visits to ER, much less Wasilla so I'm taking a chance with a local groomer that got good reviews on Yelp.com.

We have used Chewy's in ER to bathe our big dog when the Dog Wash closed on us but it's rare to get out there...
