Looking back at this thread I'd say the o/p was nothing more than a troll.
Or he actually enjoyed Alaska ( Anchorage in particular ) so much he wants everyone to stay South!

Anchorage is warmer than Minneapolis for most of the year (yes, most especially in the winter).

The place not to be during winter is in northern continental interiors. Anchorage at least has a moderating influence from the ocean, even if it is a cold current it is still a moderating influence.

I am guessing Texas, Houston Alaska is nice as long as you dont need a job. Like I said before unless women are throwing themselves at men in Texas I would rather work in Siberia. Not that im single but I could use the self esteme boost.
