Nothing like in AK though, as far as the sunlight goes. I came back to Oregon for Christmas last Dec. and the light hurt my eyes.

Hood River is beautiful. Good apples there too. I'd choose Hood River over Anchorage any day, but then I don't care much for cities except for Portland.

I like going off into the woods by myself (with my dog) and I never felt secure enough to do that in AK.
