Here is something to think about. Is your birthday coming up? There are some places that I found out will offer you a free birthday meal. Country Kitchen will give a free meal up to $8 with ID. Some places (Baskin Robins and Cold Stone Creamery) require joining their birthday club online. Does anyone else know of places that have free meals with ID?

Free burger at Red Robin when signing up with them online. They send a voucher each year.

You can just walk in with Id and get fed or do you need to sign up? Looks like you could conceivably gorge your way through town! I like free food.

Orso will give you a free dessert on your birthday. Not sure if you have to show ID or not.

I highly doubt any of it is really free, I am guessing there is some kind of catch at each place, like buy something and get a desert free, or give out email and personal addresses to get spammed with mail/email.

Most people don't go alone to a place to eat on their birthday, so the restaurants make money on the other birthday guests.

No I've been to many places on birthdays where they "treat" the birthday person. There is no catch with majority of the reputable places. They have a birthday celebrator into their establishment and as noted they generally don't come alone, they bring along paying customers. So the only outlay from the restaurant is a dinner, drink or dessert. And they in turn earned the good regard of potential repeat customers. When you do send them an email address they use it to send you alerts to specials at the business, coupons and of course the birthday item.
Reputable businesses don't give out their mailing lists without your approval.
Not everything is a scam or has a catch.

Be warned about Red Robin. Do sign up beforehand because they charged me for a "birthday sundae" for my son a couple of weeks ago. It was $2.99. I was not told that beforehand or else we would have just left and had ice cream at home. I had him signed up for the birthday club last year and he got a free meal and dessert then. Should have been proactive this time around.
