Hello, this is my first post and I registered because I couldn't find any specific info on the web anywhere else.
I'm working on a book that takes place between Anchorage and trapper creek, and I want it to be as well-researched and realistic as possible, so I have some very specific questions about crime in Anchorage.
1. Where are the worst crime areas/neighborhoods (especially drug and non-sexual violence) in Anchorage?
2. What kinds of drugs are most common, and what specific types of drug arrests (manufacturing, abuse, possession with intent for sale, etc.) are made most commonly?
3. What are some famous crimes in Anchorage's history?
4. Are there a lot of gangs and drug rings, or is it mostly individual arrests?

Before my husband and I left Anchorage, after living there 15 years; there were a number of crime 'events'. There had been a shooting (gang-related) in Dimond Mall. There was a shooting at a gas station off of Minnesota & Spenard (while my husband was pumping gas)! This was five years ago. It was a great place to live with little to no crime 15 years ago! But unfortunately, gang-bangers discovered Anchorage.
