Also, "started by a bunch of illegal aliens" means their campfire got out of control. I figure you know this, but some people have the wildest ideas...
Good post.

I read an article on this the other day-- naturally, at this point the authorities are more concerned right now with the fire itself than who started it; any investigation of the actual ignition point would come later. The rumor started with the idea that no one but illegal border crossers would be in that area, but until they do more investigation, no one can say that with any certainty.

Yesterday it was blowing from East to West, that should push it back onto the already burnt areas, next best thing to rain. Doesn't help my COPD though

Looks like I spoke too soon. I can see Miller Peak is on fire south of me next to the border. The helicopters are using Parker Canyon Lake again.

309 square miles burned in this fire and only 60% contained. They are fighting hard to keep it out of the National Monument. I have posted some photos of it in an album.

Well I pray everyone involved in the fire no harm although the wildfires may have something else to say about their homes. My family was talking about going to the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, and Vegas [from Texas] this summer, by driving, and this is obviously something to worry about. Years ago, my dad wanted to plan another trip like this to the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam (by driving, as well) and during that times, the fires were pretty bad as well. So we ended on settling for El Paso.

Yesterday the fire on Ft Huachuca got across from the gas station about a mile from my home. Hereford is pretty well evacuated and about 50 homes have been lost. My biggest fear is that they are talking about 50mph winds tomorrow. I guess I'll stay home until they tell me to move.
