I'm giving serious thought to relocating from Florida to Arizona, for many reasons. I'm seeking Art, innovative chefs, interesting wine bars, parks, creativity and like minded people. I'm in my early 60's but am not interested in the "old" person mindset. Should I be leaning more towards Phoenix or Scottsdale?

You should be leaning more towards the Arizona forum...

The Detroit forum is probably not the best place to get these questions answered.

you'll find plenty of what you are looking for in each place.....and in any other city/town in the Phx metro area.....nowadays, there is little difference between the various Phx-area municipalities....just one big metro area.....

You'll find plenty of that in both Phoenix and Scottsdale ... and in fact, as Azdr0710 pointed out, Phoenix & Scottsdale are part of the same metro area, and pretty much the same in many aspects, so it's not like you're comparing Phoenix to Philadelphia. The one thing I will say, however, is many people prefer Scottsdale for the things you're interested in because of it being a more upscale area, and attracting more of the top notch restaurants & bars. Phoenix has pockets of those exact things you're looking for, only they're more confined to areas like Biltmore, Arcadia, and perhaps downtown.

Both have a lot of this.

Infact the biggest difference between the two is your lifestyle and what you like to look at.

Phoenix proper is pretty green with trees and grass
Scottsdale uses the natural desert to it's advantage.

living downtown is probably cheaper in many aspects. You can also get around on the light rail. Considering that you can satisfy your interests in both places, the convenience of downtown may be your deciding factor.
