How about pronouncing Tucson 'Toos-in?' Someone called it that once. Instead of Two-scon or the known pronunciation that we normally hear for Arizona's 2nd largest city. I am weird about words. I have not forgotten that for Tucson, nor can I get out of my mind how many words Americans butcher in their everyday speech.

For instance, ever notice how people pronounce 'to' as 'ta'? Listen on the TV or right in your own household or workplace or school next time you're there. I have ta go to the store. It has prompted me to type 'ta' online now, I mean, monkey see monkey do, right?

When I lived in Iowa, I worked with a girl who used 'ta' all the time... The best was when she would say something like "He didn't getta go".

Huh, I never knew that!

The tribe there used to say "mad as hell" in their casino ads about 20 years ago.

Jamies makes a good point about the often mispronounced Prescott.

What about other often-misspelled Arizona words:
Tuscon or Tucson?
Pheonix or Phoenix?Snip>
Yup, observer wins. It was pronounced Pres-kit in the movie Tombstone, that's good enough for me, hehe. As for Tuscon and Pheonix (lol) I had to tell myself in my mind to visualize the pronunciations as pho-e-nix and tuc-son to remember to spell them right.
