Haven't seen this one before. Wow.

Small rainfall this evening but clouds are moving in. HOPE this is the beginning of monsoons.

Eventually I'll get used to the everchanging sky. But I sure hope I don't.

I wish it would be the beginning of the monsoon, maybe it will. But I fear it is just a matter of timing that this moisture is getting pumped up here from that tropical storm that was off Baja arrives on the date they set for the beginning of monsoon season.

As far as the colors of the sky, what you been takin'?? We know Arizona is too terrible for all that!

Ok, that didn't last long. But, tonight's rain is falling nicely.

If this had been Minnesota I would have shrugged & said, so much for summer. But, this is Arizona & I love to see the rain.

You go rain!

Acclimating nicely I see. Everyone wonders why Arizonans LOVE rain.

Incidentally, even the news sources are saying this is monsoon...it is not. The cicadas aren't even going crazy yet. This is remnants of Hurricane Bud...so while not an official "monsoon"...we'll take the moisture.

According to the National Weather Service, Monsoon officially began yesterday.

Yes... calendar dates have been assigned for Arizona's Monsoon season, however the official Monsoon itself has yet to arrive.

Here's a decent explanation from NWS (NOAA): https://www.weather.gov/psr/MonsoonAwarenessWeek

Excerpt: The purpose of this web page ^ is to promote awareness of life-threatening and damaging weather hazards affecting Arizona and its residents during the North American Monsoon. Our "monsoon season" officially extends from June 15th through September 30th, the time during which associated hazards are most likely to occur.

I don't think I'll ever forget driving here from Minnesota & seeing this huge, huge black cloud. I stopped for gas & everyone was so casual & looked at me strangely as I asked what the heck it was.

They said, it's the monsoon. I raced the rest of the way to get away from it. Being from Minnesota, it looked like tornado weather to me.

Now I'm looking forward to seeing it, from the safety of my apartment. I only saw a small segment when I visited.

Actually we do get some funnels, they just hardly ever ever ever touch down.
