Currently live in Phoenix and moving back to Tucson in a few weeks. For summer heat relief our family shoots up to Payson, Prescott or Flagstaff. I know all about Mt Lemmon and Mt Graham. Any other spots within 90-120 minutes of Tucson for a quick getaway? Don't need civilization, looking for places to camp, hike and maybe tip a beer back at a local bar on the way home.

Chiricuaha National Monument and neighboring Coronado NF. Also the area near Senoita is pretty nice. Don't know about any local bars near either one, though. Unless you stop in Tombstone.

The Huachuca's and the area south of Wilcox had my attention. My only concern is camping along a smuggling corridor. I used to live in Silver City in college and that's not too far away for a long weekend.

It's Arizona. Pack a gun. Problem solved.

Yes pack a gun IF you have done the responsibility of taking safety training. Then spend time in Tombstone, Bisbee, and Sierra Vista. Be prepared to use mucho data from your Camera, cell phone, Daguerreotype, coloring book, etc to record the beauty you will see. Be careful Jake no toes is out in force and is mean. Stay away from the power poles that are North South from the border, the Sinaloa Cartel uses them as guides for their slave movers of drugs. Yes, it is human slavery.

It is farther away, but Silver City. See the Gila Wilderness. Rent a cabin in Pinos Altos. Otherwise, you are surrounded by two deserts and far from the Rim.
