Yep. Suspicious campaign donations.

I think you’re trying to make something out of an event that happens to many candidates.

I've been the treasurer for several campaigns. Not accepting a check for $10,000 when there is a $2700 limit is something you certainly can control. It appears that they accepted contributions in excess of the limits, reported them and are only getting around to fixing the overages because they were called on it.

I did not vote for her, but this is a complete nothingburger. She is not in trouble - just has to refund the excess contributions and all is forgiven.

Sinema is believed to be the largest individual beneficiary of their donations in Arizona.

It sounds like a good deal for the Sinema and her fellow Democrats, except there is a problem, a very large problem: The site has reportedly been an enabler of child prostitution and human trafficking.

Democrats, Kyrsten Sinema should be ashamed of accepting Backpage donations
She donated it to a group that combats sexual abuse, the Arizona Coalition to End Sexual and Domestic Violence. So what's your point? She did the right thing.

  • Right wing talking point that failed to gain traction in the election
  • To borrow a phrase: nothingburger

Having owned and managed New Times Weekly since the 70's, Lacey and Larkin were fixtures in Arizona politics and contributed to a lot of campaigns. The connection to backpage.com's apparent negatives was not known. Sinema and others dumped the money when the issue came to light.

The nasty side of backpage.com has been known for years before this last election, if one was to google just a little bit.
To be fair to Sinema, I can see not getting around to do due diligence on every source of green, but maybe that what's you do when you are running for election these Internet days.

On this one, I'd say 0 to 0.

Agreed. McSally's staff was incompetent but it didn't amount to anything significant.

My point is that he's always cherry picking these articles when BOTH sides have done it. It's a bunch of nothing he's trying to make into something! McSally did the right thing and refunded the extra.
