Just moved here and looking for a good pizza place. We don't like the chains such as Pizza Hut, Dominos, etc. We also prefer a thinner crust. Had a great pizza at Nellos in Scottsdale but looking for a place closer to home.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Also celebrating my 30th b.day in 2 weeks and looking for more of an upscale bakery for a cake. Grocery store cakes will not do. Don't want to sound snobby but my family really searches out high quality pastries. We typically spent $30-$45 on a high quality cake for special occasions back in PA. I found one called Bamboo Bakery and they have a website www.bamboobakery.com and it kind of looks like what I'm looking for. May have to check them out - they do tastings so at least we could try before I commit myself to a whole cake. Anyone ever been there or heard reviews? Please let me know of any other good bakeries.

Thanks!

I like the Arizona Pizza Company over off of the 101 and Union Hills. I used to go there a lot when I lived over there. We eat Barro's a lot, and also Jo Jo's Pizza at 39th ave and Pinnacle Peak. There's also a Brothers Pizza close to you at 67th ave and Happy Valley rd. They're ok, but you might like them.

Can't really help you with bakeries, other than Cathy's Rum Cake. They are pricey, so it might be up your alley.

I'll second the Jo Jo's endorsement. Worth the few extra miles driving. (When I lived there, their drivers would get lost every time, so I just started picking it up rather than play the waiting game with delivery. Nobody wants a pizza that's been riding around for two hours!)

I also like the Streets of New York right next to your Basha's.

There's the Palo Verde Pizzeria off of 83rd south of Bell (across from PF Changs)

Brother's Pizza is, in my opinion, very bland. Not to mention pricey, and skimpy on the toppings.

Just my two cents.

I'm not familiar with Bamboo Bakery, but I looked up the address. It's not in Glendale at all, but instead on Glendale Avenue in Phoenix. If you're going to drive that far for a good cake, you might also want to investigate Tammy Coe Cakes (downtown Phoenix and Arcadia), Karsh's (North Central Phoenix), Barb's Bakery (Central Phoenix), and Cathy's Rum Cake (Scottsdale, Chandler, and NE Phoenix).

Bakeries like this are usually independent businesses that customers drive a longer distance to support. I don't know of any good independent bakeries in the NW Valley, although there could certainly be some I don't know about.

These guys are genuine Italian there english is sometimes tough to understand.
Amazing Calzones, wings and pizza.
The place has a Dysart address but sits facing McDowell Rd.
Highly recomended place, surf the net and you should find the ratings on it.
