I have a mini fascination with Mena. It seems so much crazy stuff has happened there. What's it like? Any hint of the old shenanigans? Does anyone here have any personal experience with what went on at the airstrip in the 80's, the train deaths, drug drops, etc? No, I'm not a conspiracy nut at all. I just think Mena has such an interesting history. Tell me what you know of the place.

I've heard secondhand stories but I'm not talkin. Just kidding.
Go there and ask around country people love to gossip.
It's a pretty boring place actually, blink and you'll miss it.

Well, Mena isn't exactly nearby for me. I passed through AR on the drive to AZ from VA. But Mena was pretty far out of my way on I-40.

Well I guess I can give you a little story.
I knew a guy who was driving down a dirt road in his pickup truck in the middle of nowhere and he ran into a group of hispanic guys with machineguns. They told him to turn around and thats what he did. This was before cell phones. There are a lot of hispanics in the area now but not back then.
Just kidding with you, I never heard that story.

You may as well ask if anyone here was related to the grassy knoll shooter.

If any of the events of Mena, Barry Seal, et al, were known firsthand by someone reading this forum, I have a strong suspicion that they're not going to relate such events here.

Or anywhere else.

Oh, I dunno about that. A pilot buddy of mine knew Eugene Hassenfuss pretty well, certainly knew more about him than I ever read on the Internet or in the news.

Nah, I was just being dramatic but I really have heard stories. I don't know the specifics of what went down, anyone who lived in Mena during the 80's probably knows more than me.
There was nothing spooky going on in Mena, just standard good ol boy stuff on a larger than normal scale.

Well not except for that UFO.
