Chinese Toddler Run Over | Left for Dead - YouTube
Here is the report from CNN and it is just sad and make me sick that no one could even take the time to even dial 911 on their cell phone..It is just disgusting to let someone die in the street like that...

I am not excusing the people who ignored the child but you have to think of their culture. To us, leaving a child in the street after being hurt/killed would be heart wrenching, it is unthinkable in Western society to neglect a child. I do not know too much of Chinese culture and it may vary in different regions as well but it might be a cultural thing. Maybe if it were a boy there might have been people who would have stopped immediately. This is a country where boys are desired more than girls...girls often get killed at birth.. So who knows, maybe the wrong people were there. I am not in anyway stating all Chinese are like this but this is what I see.

And do you all feel outrage at the children left to die as a result of wars the US perpetrates throughout the world?
Or is the outrage because it happened in another country?

Even though it's pretty outrageous, I'm not completely surprised. In countries like China where the population is extremely high, there is arguably less respect for individual lives. Accidents and injuries are so frequent that people are often left to die, especially if they're poor. This kind of thing often happens in India as well. It would never happen to a rich person's child, however.

Our paper here in Australia explained that there is a fear of litigation in China now due to some past cases of Good Samaritans being sued huge amounts of money. The judges decided that the people helping the injured were admitting they were responsible, hence liable for fines ranging from 45,000 to 100,000 yuan. I understand that's a massive whack of money for many. So it's like most other countries - people afraid to get involved for fear of being sued. Thanks, Judges!

Absolutely, I feel outrage and deep sorrow at children left to die as a result of any war no matter what the country. The US definitely has its major faults in this area (as you pointed out), but lets not pretend it stands alone in this field. Dozens upon dozens of nations have left children to die as a result of wars, not just the US. European nations ravaged most of the world for centuries with their colonization and their wars. Same can be said of Japan and many other nations. Like I said previously, the US is definitely not perfect here, but it's also not the only guilty party in this department.

Also, I agree with BigCityDreamer's post.

How do small children end up in the middle of the street anyway? I don't get that.
