Do you sometimes find traditional Chinese architecture a bit boring/samey?

during the cultural revolution, Chairman Mao had hundreds of of building destroyed along with anything that reminded him of old China, it is still going on as far as the older buildings go but China is also now turning what is left of the old villages in to heritage sites

There was actually a substantial amount of regional and historical variation Chinese architecture (as well as peoples who lived within the current borders of China, but are not Han Chinese) especially when it comes to vernacular residential and commercial architecture. I'm not sure if the underlying assumption that traditional Chinese architecture (and the architectural cultures which were influenced by Chinese architecture) is completely homogenous has that much truth to it.

The most famous buildings seem to look generic to the non-Chinese eye, maybe like Korean architecture might look the same. I do like the Hakka roundhouse though, unfortunately I didn't get the chance to see them when I was in Fujian.

It's also building materials and layout. China's big so architecture outside of standardized imperial or religious architecture (but even including those sometimes) has to account for the different climates, economic needs, and building materials of the different regions. Maybe you're tired of what has to go into scenery backdrop like Kung Fu Panda to some extent.
