I'm not sure which one I should visit. The flights from Vietnam aren't that expensive. I did consider Taipei, too, but the flights from Vietnam are significantly more expensive, it seems. No visa for Thailand or Bangkok, that's a good thing. But where do I go?
I was thinking 3-4 days. I'll also be in Hong Kong. I'd do whatever there's to do. No preference.
Only thing I can think of is that you could leave Bangkok and go somewhere else nearby. Can't do that in Singapore.
Singapore is cleaner, appears more affluent, and is more "western."
Bangkok is a Royal City. It has palaces and temples.
I am an American, and I would choose BKK any day. It is more historic, more "exotic" and just more interesting to me. There is a kind of elegance and grandeur that comes with those palaces, temples, and monuments.
The food in Singapore is great, but it's even better in BKK. Ditto for shopping and attractions. The nightlife is WAY better in BKK!
If you would like a respite from insane motorcycle traffic or other problems in developing countries, then go to Singapore. If you would like to explore Asia more, then choose Thailand. You may also consider going to Angkor Wat. Although you need a visa, you may be able to get it on arrival at the airport, just need to pay (please confirm that this is the case though, as I am not sure).
And yes, Bangkok is not Paris!
