Bangkok IS truly a world class city. In the same league as NYC and London and Dubai. No one blinks an eye when you are there, not matter that country you're from.
Bangkok has some good sites but the food is not exactly all that impressive, although I am pretty sure there are some dishes I didn't get tp try while in Bangokok.

It's not michelin star dining but for cheap food 24/7 i don't think there is a better place.

Not the same league as London and NYC...for a start I find it mostly quite an ugly, characterless city, but it certainly can be a fun city.
