Is there EVER a good time to visit Beirut, Lebanon? (standard, 2014)

I've been wanting to visit Beirut for ages. There never seems to be a good time to visit. Always some issue or another.

Right now it's the Syrian refugees and some a recent Beirut bombing.

The standard rule, every year, is 'wait a few years'.

At a certain point, if a person is determined to visit Beirut, is 'now' just as good as 'next year'... Opinions?

Yes. I'm basically going to be in the region in January 2014. It's an option to make a short side visit for a few days.
