If a US citizen in Okinawa wanted to fly back to the states, what's the cheapest US destination? Vegas? Oakland? Seattle? Without doing a lot of flight comparisons on Priceline, etc, I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this. Thanks!

Hey Hunter, are you living in Okinawa now? I would appreciate an update of how life is today in Oki. I spent 3 1/2 years there in the early 90's and it's still one of my favorite places of all time. I'm looking to retire back to Oki or the PI and want to know how life is today. Hopefully it hasn't changed much and the people are still easy going and laid back.
I'm not, Who Dat. I really enjoyed it there the couple of times I went - spent a couple weeks each time.
Seems like CA is always cheapest - at least it was from HI. Vegas, too.
Okay, okay, SOME people know I've applied for jobs on darn near every continent. So I'm being considered for one there. One of the arguments against that location is the expense of flying back to visit kids/grandkids. I personally don't have a burning desire to sit that long on an airplane to see the little snot-nosed.... JUST KIDDING (sort of) It's the other half who's balking. Then I show him pictures - he's still regretting leaving Hawaii. So it looks better to him when he sees the pictures. I'd like to get the promotion, truth be told. You only live once. I have a few years to retire. This would be a 2yr gig.
I'm not sure that you can actually fly internationally out of Okinawa. You'll have to go to Kansai or Narita first. The cheapest destination is the West coast (Sea Tac, SF, LAX).

It'd be nice to "have" to live in paradise while getting paid at the same time.
