Well, it's kind of nice reading so much vindication of the exact things I've been saying for the last few years. It just sucks that it's in regards to very bad things.
My biggest concern as of now, is how Xi and his gov't will react when it's inexorable that things are not getting better. I worry about my family back in China, my Chinese friends who are LGBTQ, who have been successful in industries that China is increasingly laying blame on. I worry about whether they will decide that the window is closing too fast and they don't have enough avenues to lay claims to dominance, and choose a military option. I'm not sure where I stand on that right now; I don't think it's inevitable, yet, but I'm much more concerned than I was.
I was watching this music video a few days ago, and though it was obviously more critical of Western dynastic power, it fits pretty much just as well with the situation that China is going through. (Has a couple NSFW bits) https://youtu.be/oRSijEW_cDM
Here's a longer piece without a paywall that puts Evergrande/China/Debt into context, and points out that although matters are grave, they are not necessarily catastrophic.
I'm kind of excited to see if NEVS, sort of formerly SAAB, gets purchased by a Swedish company and brings the return of Swedish mass production automaking.

Wow, crazy ironic that you mention this... I drove by the Acton Saab dealership in MA a few days ago. The owner keeps it preserved exactly as it was when it closed, and it has a 2011 Saab 9-5X in the showroom. My first car was a Saab, my family is Swedish... I've always had a soft spot in my heart for them. Was bummed out when they went defunct and NEVS ended up being dominated by Evergrande and operations moved to China. I was wondering the same thing... Would this be the final goodbye for Saab? Or would a Swedish consortium step in? My family in Sweden would love it, for sure.

Isn't Volvo still Swedish-owned and mass-producing in Sweden?

They're owned by Chinese carmaker Geely. They manufacture in Sweden, China, the US, Belgium, Russia, Malaysia, and India. None of the US market cars are from China though they do use parts from there.
Evergrande missed its 3rd bond payment in three weeks. Concerns are also being raised about other developers. Could flip to contagion.......
