My thoughts?
Considering the fallout from the 30s and 40s, the Jews had to have somewhere to go.
I personally don't understand why so many people seem to hate Jews. When we moved to the Detroit area in the 1960s, I ran into lots of kids (jr. high school) who spewed terrible hatred. It was clear they were repeating what they heard at home.
Perhaps it's because Henry Ford had such an influence there, the old man had a lot of issues including certain admiration for Hitler.
I realize there are many in the world who would just kill their enemies, then everything would be better. Too bad they don't realize that when the enemies supply is gone, their friends--or they, from their friends--will become the new enemies. And so will begin the next round of exterminations.
So I think the Jews should have a homeland, and where else but in the holy land that has great historical significance for them? Perhaps they would do better with 50,000 square miles purchased from Greenland? They would be more secure, surely the area would prosper, but it's not historic turf for the population. Not to mention the climate difference.
I think the government is a bit on the authoritarian side of things, Israel is not as free a country as the US is, I believe. But the citizens do at least have the right to self defense, something that the newly-insane nations of the world like England have determined is not a right of a citizen any more.
What does property cost in Israel? Is there any rural living, given the packed population per square mile nature of the country? Is there an ex-pat community there? What's the nature of organized crime there? Drug and alcohol use and abuse? What kinds of cars are marketed in Israel?
What, nobody here knows anything about Israel? Can anyone recommend other websites? Thanks.
