Nice in it's way but never a place that i ever a desire to be in longer than a week,and usually a few days was ample. Easy exit across the causeway,to Malaysia,far preferable.
If i was in the business of learning Mandarin,i would go to China,or possibly more likely to Taiwan. Check out Taiwan as a few expats whom i know there swear by the island.
Also possible to teach English there if so desired.
