I was curious about what many would say or think of all this. Some of it is "off the mark" though because although I have never been in prison, I was in the military and deployed for long periods and during these long periods I did not even consider having homosexual sex.

What is my take on this? Three things as follows:

Sexual repression- Religious beliefs can be inherently sexually repressive. People like me who are devout atheists have been able to develop normal, heathy attitudes toward sex, have no "guilt" issues with any of it. In developing a normal healthy attitude toward sexuality, I've never felt any pent up frustrations or hormonal functions that would cause me to deviate from very normal sexual tastes, i.e., heterosexuality. In instances of being without a suitable sexual partner, such as long deployments in the military, masturbation was an obvious outlet (which I did... guilt free... and often...). My typical or normal sex life that was devoid of any sexual repression caused me enjoy normal sexual relations and perhaps played a part in my not participating or desiring anything that could be considered "deviant" sexual behavior.

Frontal lobe brain function- The frontal lobe part of your brain is where self control, impulsive behavior and the like come from. I can't help but wonder if frontal lobe function a little whacked, pent up sexual frustration from being sexually repressed, combined with strange guilt complexes about sexuality and impulsive behavior could somehow lead to various forms of sexually deviant behavior, such as pedophilia. Normal frontal lobe function allows for me to have self-control, logic and rational thought.

Sense of detachment or basically sociopathic- Would a religious leader feel a sense of detachment, feel a sense of being "above the law", feel a sense of being able to do whatever they wish and expect no one to question them on it? Perhaps... I have a few friends that are cops that sort of think along those lines.

No matter what the "whys", the cause and effect and no matter WHO is involved with this sort of behavior it's flat out wrong. Sick, twisted and wrong.
