Thanks. It takes me back. My very first job was a short-lived disaster as a dishwasher at a now-defunct restaurant chain called Sambo's (similar in concept to Denny's) that was actually named after the children's story "Little Black Sambo". You can kind of guess why they are no longer in business!

But right after that I got a job as a parking attendant for a department store and eventually got promoted to night security guard. Much better.

Anyway this store my stepson is working at, a local grocery, will probably be a much better first job than mine was. They have an excellent reputation in the community for employing disadvantaged and handicapped people and since my stepson struggles with OCD I think they will be very patient and compassionate with him. He's working alongside a sunny young lady with Down's syndrome for instance. Should shut him right up if he is tempted to complain about any first-world concerns or how hard the work is ;-) Not that he's likely to, though. Once he sets his jaw and walks into the fire he seldom falters. I'm very proud of him.

Helping my 8th grade granddaughter make a donkey mask for her English class since they are doing the scene where Bottom gets turned into an ass in Midsummer Night's Dream on Tuesday.

Daughter is going to portfolio day to have her artwork critiqued.

Fortunately her dad is taking her. I'm staying home. I'll probably clean house while they are gone. It's cold out today.

Nice cold day in Florida

Took my youngest to the Buddhist temple. Ate soup and egg rolls (vegetarian of course)
They had a billboard up with the 5 rules of Dharma....I did ok with the first 4 BUT the last one...refrain from drinking alcohol....not so much My son read it and said "Well dad you already missed it on the last one"
We both laughed

SO along the way I have had more than a few ignorant Christians complain about my time spent eating Sunday brunch at the Buddhist temple, Ignorant because they seemed to think that by complaining they could change something. Or Ignorant because they mistakenly thought I care what they think.

SO on the way home, we were listening to the Grateful Dead channel on Satellite radio in the car and they played this song, which was fitting for a Christian's attitude, and also sums up the fact that I choose NOT to be a Christian, or spnd my Sunday mornings in their company.

Damn! I must spread some reputation around before giving to PegE again.
It's what Sunday mornings were meant for! Obviously.

I lay in bed wondering if I'd be able to move today at all with the backache I have from shoveling yesterday. Eventually I got up walked it off and went out to do more shoveling. Then I came back inside and starting studying.

After doing much the same as PegE except with my own husband obviously, spent a fabulous morning out, on one of the most beautiful days of the year, post snowfall, blue sky and glorious sunshine, taking some photos around the neighborhood, of snow covered houses and people shoveling their driveways. Then rounded up the kids to wander over to the sledding slope. Love it.
