Maybe I've missed it or something, but I'm surprised this hasn't been discussed on here already.

They viewed police officers as the "brotherhood," or enemy, according to an indictment unsealed Monday.

And they considered themselves warriors: men and women ready to battle with Jesus against the forces of evil in the end of times.

To Hutaree -- targeted by federal authorities in weekend raids in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Illinois -- that time was coming soon. And their plot to kill police in an effort to foment revolution against the U.S. government was part of that dream.

Their views are part of a tradition of apocalyptic thinking that can turn violent. Today, with changes in government and society -- like a poor economy and the nation's first African-American president -- such activity is increasing in the U.S., experts said.

You can see the Hutaree website at HUTAREE.COM ... The forum's been hijacked by 4Chan pretty much, but if you go way back to the very beginning of it you can see some posts about what these guys perceived as 'government threats and lies', etc.

And yet, somehow, I fear these guys are just gonna be the tip of the iceberg.

They do happen to refer to themselves as Martyrs quite a bit on their site.

Now, how long until this thread is plagued with the "They're not TRUE(tm) Christians!" type of posts.

They are the extreme right of the christian religion. The groups in any extreme position of any religion are a danger to society. It is nice to see they caught them before they killed anybody.

I'm glad you posted this here because I didn't want to get wrapped up in potentailly offending any Christians on the main forum page.
In my opinion, this is an example of the close minded rigid thinking that some religions breed. "Hate, in the name of a loving god", hog wash.

"Don't be so close minded that you can't open the door for a different view"

You know, though, I think more and more these 'fringe' Christians are not as 'far fetched' as we once thought. The whole "Obama is the antichrist, don't retreat! reload!" bunch seem to really be a much bigger, and increasingly more dangerous, group than previously anticipated.

My favorite bit starts at around 4:00 minutes, and the cut-a-way left me laughing (despite how horrible it is).

Yeah, it does seem to me that religion does create the more extreme variety of nut job, after all, when was the last time anyone heard of a girl scout assassination squad or a "hit list" coming from the elks, or rotary club. I suspect that religion attracts these folks because religion attracts people who find a need in belief without question, blind obedience, the "tell me what to believe so I don't have to think for myself" types. This is both sad and dangerous.
