Made the Decision Clayton it is!
Hello All
I just came back from the ATL and I have made a decision about where I am going to live and I decided that Hampton, GA is the place to be.
While I was there, I visited Duluth, Lawrenceville, Grayson, and Marietta. Although those places are quite lovely, it is just way too congested and expensive. I seen the traffic and it is crazy. It is nice, but not wear I wanted to be.
I have a girlfriend that lives in Lovejoy and I love it down there. As some of you may think is a issue of African Americans living in one place. The people that live in her subdivison and others surrounding her are working people, rasing families and taking care of home. The only issue that I saw with her neighbors is the fact that since there is no HOA, people let weeds grow in their yards, not that it is looking crazy, but I like to see a fresh cut lawn that is weed free.
I know that people would say that oh Clayton Cty is horrible, but I know that I am going to make it work for me.

Things don't start getting "bad", until you get up to the Jonesboro area, but it's creeping southward more each year. As long as you're happy that's all that matters, but if you want the number for Brinks Home Security, let us know.

I think they put Cty. The abbreviation for county. No biggie. But I think he/she realizes it is a county.

And just so you know, you will not need a Brinks Home Security System; there was an article in Newsweek and Love Joy High is one of the top 1,300 high schools in the United States. If I knew how to link websites, I would, but, you can get to the article from the Clayton County schools website.
See, we doin' it big down here on the southside, it's not all bad, especially schools. Send me a pm and holla!

Good for you You have to do what's best for you and yours, and at the end of the day, only you can determine what that is. I wish you the best of luck

CONGRATULATIONS!!! and WELCOME from another Hampton resident! Although I know you have friends here already, you have my email addy if you have any questions.
As far as African-Americans being in one place - the Lovejoy/Hampton area is very diverse & part of the reason why I love the area. One of my requirements when buying a home in GA was that it had to be a racially diverse area - being from NYC I NEVER ever want to live in an area that's segregated soley to or for one race of people. We all have something to offer & I love seeing everyone in my neighborhood! There are whites, hispanics & even a few asians living around here.
Further, your friend should get the telephone number for Clayton County Code Enforcement (I can get it for you if she can't find it) & start reporting those neighbors who let their grass grow out of control - you don't need an HOA for that. That is against County codes & they can be forced to get their yard straight.
Good luck, God bless & again WELCOME!! Things are improving here & will continue to do so with positive people coming into the area. If I can be of any assistance let me know & if you feel comfy, I wouldn't mind meeting you & your friend since we'll be neighbors :-)
As a matter of fact, if any other Clayton residents want to try & get some kind of get together to meet in a public place, I'd be willing to meet!

I'd suggest you get a home security system no matter what county you choose to move to in the Metro Atlanta area, but that's just my opinion
