Hi all,

We have an opportunity to move to the Alpharetta area. We are wondering where would be the best places to live. This would be our second move and would like to make it our last. Here are our details -

- 3 school aged kids aged 10, 9, and almost 5. Good schools a MUST.
- Reasonable commute to Alpharetta (realizing traffic is a little crazy)
- Single family home for $350,000 or less
- A nice, welcoming family friendly community
- Close to shopping, restaurants etc.
- Amenities for kids
- Neighborhood with sidewalks, club house, pool would be nice.

Any other insight would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Everything on your list can easily be found in Alpharetta.

If you want a little more bang for your buck and less taxes you could also look into Forsyth county. Commute would be a little longer, but something to consider.

Is there a certain area of Alpharetta that is preferable?

Thanks.

Seeing how city limit lines are skewed- Roswell, Johns Creek, Alpharetta, or Milton could all fit your requirements.
But, before you get to far ahead of yourself- GA, or FL?
Then, contact a RE agent.

We have the potential opportunity to go either place. My husband and would prefer GA, but we don't want to make that decision without getting input from both places. Based on what little I know about both places I think the Atlanta area is a better fit as does my husband.

Alpharetta is great, and your budget could get you a nice house there especially in this economy. I agree with the above poster - also consider Roswell, Johns Creek and Milton. They're all right there ... I live in Roswell very close to Alpharetta. The parks and schools are great.

Personally I don't see the need to go up to Forsyth County unless you want to avoid the higher taxes of Fulton County, but why give yourself a longer commute when you'll already be in a very nice area?

This is very helpful, as my family and I are soon to be moving to the Alpharetta area as well....I was wondering about foreclosures in this area. Are there a lot? How do I get details without paying a website service fee? Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

You can look at Fannie Mae foreclosures available for sale at Fannie Mae REO Homes For Sale - HomePath.com. That's how we found our house in Roswell. Fannie Mae can be a PITA to deal with though.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Dunwoody. There are amazing schools in Dunwoody and you commute would still not be too bad to Alpharetta. There are a lot of homes in your price range around Dunwoody and you could easily get more house for your money
