I used to live in Paulding County. That is quite a place. I never want to live there again. I spent middle school and high school out there, and two short stints out there. I am never living there again. Didn't like it when I lived there(1997-2004). That place doesn't seem that much different from Mississippi in some ways.

who says the foreigners weren't celebrating the 4th. All of my Mexican neighbors were shooting off fireworks all weekend.

I don't know if it is true but I've heard it said that Cinco De Mayo is a bigger deal in the US than in Mexico.

St. Patrick's Day in the US probably rivals Ireland's.

Yes, of course I would. Intelligent people can decipher the basis of someone's argument, even if they do not agree with the argument itself.

In a span of 15 years, Atlanta accumulated the amount of immigrants it took other cities four decades to accumulate. I would argue that the pace and magnitude of the changes this city has undergone are unprecedented. And that is why if you are not from here or did not move here until after 1996, you really can't relate to the reaction (positive or negative) of someone who has.

(Lol) I'm still laughing at "dilutes the section 8 people swamping the city". In other words, the coloreds need to stop coming to Atlanta.

I'm sure many people like this would rather the area be flooded with illegal aliens than Black American citizens.

So I've lived in GA prior to the Olympics and on and off since. The shifts in ethnic groups is what is happening all over the United States not just Atlanta. Prior to the Olympics GA was attractive to immigrants mainly from NY because then as is now Atlanta and its metro, is comparatively cheaper than NY and NJ. The South shouldn't be known as the South anymore (who wants to be part of the old South and what it represents). Atlanta should be known for the great city it is and that it embraces people of all ethnic backgrounds will only help the economy as the nation's economy becomes more and more global.

The only thing about the Old South I don't mind still sticking around is the Southern Hospitality. That charm is still around.

My mom's ancestors immigrated to America from England hundreds of years ago. So I guess I'm one of the immigrants sullying Atlanta.
