My Husband commutes to Chattanooga via 75. Purchasing a home in Atlanta area. Want to say under 200k Schools most important. 2 boys one in middle,High school bound in a yr. one in elementary.
Want to purchase in swim/tennis community..need kid friendly with lots of kids..can buy a foreclosure with not too much work. Have looked in East Cobb and Towne Lake area but not sure about schools. Can anyone advise which area would be better.. Like Brookstone but seems along commute to 75 but have been told schools are better over there..Hopefully the plan would be for my hubby to work somewhere in Atlanta..but has a job in TN for now and will continue to work in TN until he gets a job in Atlanta. but want to get out of TN..private schools too expensive and don't really care for the area..Moved from Charlotte NC. Just want neighborhood with kids and a good school district.. I know the comments on traffic have been an issue but my husband will stay in Tn 3 days a week so his commute will be 2 days a week. It takes him 1hr 15 minutes which i hear can take you just driving around town..
Any help would be appreciated or any areas or neighborhoods that might work..
Thanks!!

Take a look at Cherokee County - including Woodstock, Canton, and Ball Ground. It would put you midway-ish between Chattanooga and Atlanta, and your husband could cross over to 75 on GA20. The schools are pretty good (although not particularly diverse) and there are numerous swim/tennis communities with homes in your price range.

Thanks I will do... we have looked over near Eagle watch. I believe that is Etowah High school.. Its tough just looking at test scores. Some of the schools with the best scores have some bad reviews from parents as far as atmosphere and teaches. Its tough!!

You can probably get a foreclosure in East Cobb for 200K but other than that, it will be tough. You also might want to look in the Harrison High and Kennesaw High areas as an alternative.

Thanks. I have heard good things about Harrison. Do you know anything about Woodstock High. We also looked in the Bridge Mill neighborhood.. but not as familiar with that area as the Brookstone area.
Agent has focused on that area for us mainly...

Woodstock High is fine, as are Creekview and Sequoyah. But Cherokee HS is not great.
