Check out this house (11,000 SF, 2+ Acres for under $400,000):

So what's the catch? Bad neighborhood? Bad school district? Things that sound too good to be true usually are? Right? Hmmm?

Not that far from me. Not a bad neighborhood. Its a neighborhood with mansions in it.

I'm assuming, the inside of this house has been destroyed or the construction isn't finished with it.

Ok. Like I assumed, the inside has been destroyed/incomplete.

link removed - (original link comparing to was removed).

HA!

Looks like the previous owners didn't have a ladder; everything above 7 feet high is untouched. Every piece of trim, hardware, or appliance within reach has been torn out though. Windows and exterior are intact though, so that leads me to believe it was all done with as much discretion as possible.

Nice neighborhood, but I would never buy something like that, way too much "unknown." My guess is because it was built in 2007 (as the real estate market started to tank) it was not properly completed.

I worked my way through college as clerk at a mortgage company and I have seen some crazy foreclosure stuff and would be loath to buy one. I had one case where they'd stripped the inside of the house down to the studs, but only in the areas that couldn't be seen through the windows. Other cases a man backed his 18 wheeler into the back of the house. The front looked perfectly fine, and as the bank only has the right to see the house from the street there is no way to tell how damaged it is until they actually take possession. A lot of foolywang can happen in that amount of time.
