Sup guys.

I've been talking to some people down in Atlanta and I could potentially get a job there.

I have actually never been to Atlanta (though I've been to most of the country already)...

I'm a male, 25, straight, single, no kids, no debt and will most likely be around the 85k/yr mark.

Is this enough for downtown living? how is it there? too much crime?

im from the suburbs of detroit and go to Chicago all the time. i have also been to LA, NYC, Las Vegas, Des Moines, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Milwaukee, Washington DC, Miami, etc etc.

Is Atlanta anything like any of these cities?

hows the weather?

thanks for the responses!

Atlanta would be most similar to Dallas - yes, 85K is enough for downtown living.

We have a few similarities to Detroit - we have a sister Fox Theater!

85k should do well in downtown Atl.
I think the crime would be LESS than that of Detroit or Chicago.
The weather on the other hand is much much more mild in the winter. The summers are hot but probably not much hotter than Det or Chi.

Atlanta is a great city, especially for someone as young as you are.. IMO you will love it!

$85k at 25 years old? Where did I go wrong? Wow. Yes, you will live well here, very well. Just don't go nuts and feel like you have to buy a BMW 7 series to keep up with the flash in this town. Also, I wouldn't rent in Buckhead because its overpriced. Midtown is ok for nightlife, but not necessarily to live, as its mostly gay. Live somewhere like Vinings, which is close to town, has a lot of single women, and plenty to do at night. My suggestions for what they're worth.

No problem. As for the weather, its mild compared to the north, but we do have winter. December-February are the worst months (my opinion because I don't like cold).

Any other advice you need, just ask. Happy to help.

You would fit in. I recommend midtown over downtown. Pretty.safe here, under 80 homicides for the year

Tony, I have to disagree. Midtown will be expensive and like I said, he'll have mostly gay neighbors if he moves there. I mean, it could work out, as I know many gay people who have attractive female friends. But I've heard from my single straight friends that its just not fun living in midtown because they want to meet people to date.

I would still choose midtown because midtown has all the bars, clubs, and restaurants. I would also recommend Atlantic station. I went.the other day and the changes they have made are great.

Atlantic Station - Live, Work, Play

Midtown has more stuff to do and its more walkable
