I hate it when I am the fifth car stopped at the stop light. And the person in the fourth car gives me the finger because I blew my horn. Hey fourth car, I was communicating to the first car! That folks, is RUDE!

Living in Atlanta, I can agree w/ being ranked seventh. This place is very laid back. Please don't take that personal. I'm certain that no one left LA, Chicago, Philadelphia, or NYC for Atlanta, to speed up. Can anyone from said cities make that claim?

I know that I've pissed people off, unintentionally. It's a matter of perspective. I am perceived as rude for tailgating on surface streets and expressways. Certainly, I am not referring to the connector or any other place or time when there is bumper to bumper traffic. Get out of my way, please! I perceive slow drivers as rude. Close the gaps. GO when the light turns green, sheesh! Communicate w/ other drivers: use your turn signal!

I'd be interested to know the breakdown of transplants from the North and those from the nearby states. From my limited perspective, GA, SC, NC, Alabama, LA, and Eastern TN make up a large number of the transplants in Atlanta.

The overall idiosyncrasies of Atlantans, are southern. There is nothing wrong w/ that. I point that out only to say that perspectives are different. Northerners come may to Atlanta expecting certain behavioral traits. I certainly like to be called sugar and honey, when I'm at a restaurant. Nothing doing! The waitress isn't rude. However, she does not live up to my expectation.

Northerners may continue behaving in the same manner as they did in their former cities, expecting the same behavior. Exp., honking my horn here, causes people to gawk, not move. I digress.
Its funny because the city I am from honking the horn can get you hurt or killed. Its all about finesse. I am a fast moving person as well, but bullying people on the road, just because you are in a vehicle is a bad move in my book. Its a science to beeping your horn. A light tap like mep mep is how you do it, that kinda wakes people up around you, but pressing the horn longer than 2 seconds with the loud long horn, its kinda like texting or typing in all caps. Yea you have to go where you are going, but you and your car is not better than the other drivers and their car. If you can get around a slow driver while keeping your emotions is a skill in itself. I must agree with Atlanta truly truly being the good ole south. The part in red is what Atlanta really is. Those 6 states plus Mississippi RUN ATL.....Their presence is so big in Atlanta.

Atlanta, Phoenix and Orlando are out of place on this list, transplants or not...

Philly should be a LOT higher (like in top 5) and higher than DC. Miami is right. Detroit should definitely be in top 10, so should Chicago.

I feel like it should go:
1. New York
1b. Brooklyn
1c. Bronx
1d. Queens
2. Miami
3. Philadelphia
4. Boston
5. Detroit
6. Chicago
7. Washington DC
8. Baltimore
9. Los Angeles
10. Dallas
11. Trenton, NJ

"rude" doesn't imply malice. So "rude" doesn't always mean "mean hearted." Sometimes, a person can be kind yet rude (like in Chicago...)

Sometimes, there are some things you just don't SAY out loud, because it's rude... Whether it is "true" to you or not... That's the Chicago I know. "Be 'REAL' at all cost, no matter who it hurts." That's still rude...

I love this, we get called the 7th rudest when we always get commended on our southern hospitality and manners. I go any where and peand ople know I'm from the south when I open doors for people or say sir or ma'am and things like that. Who would think otherwise had never been to Atlanta.

It's probably because there are so many aggressive speeders in Atlanta.
