Yeah, but you can't force transit down the throats of people in Cobb County if they don't want it. Sticking with auto transportation only will limit them in the long run but the last time I checked people in America still have the right to make bad decisions.
Cobb Counties representatives at the regional round-table should have represented their constituents better. Unfortunately we are a region and if the tax passes in Fulton and DeKalb counties, every county will have the tax, State Law! No way for Cobb to squirm out of this tax. And no bad decisions are what got Atlanta to the point we are at now. Its time for a little bit of Socialism and everyone doing whats good for the whole.

Why should we turn to Socialism now when Capitalism got us here in the first place?

It was Perdue and the dang Republicans down at the Georgia legislature. The way they've got this thing rigged, if you don't pass the TIA you're gonna have to pay more.

Q. What happens if the regional sales tax doesn’t pass?

A. Today, local governments must provide a local match in order to receive their state local maintenance grants. If the voters turn down the transportation referendum in 2012, the local match increases to 30%. If the project list is adopted and the voters pass the transportation referendum in 2012, the local match drops to 10%. In addition, the region cannot try again for at least two years. Jurisdictions will have to use additional sources of revenue to fund transportation projects such as grants, toll roads, local tax or bond referendums and federal money.

I hope it passes as well. We need this to create more jobs in the area and to reduce traffic.

I too hope it passes. I'm not pleased with the project allocation, but we need something done and there are some projects on there that are very much needed.
