Just got home from our tour of Atlanta burbs.

Relocation 99% good to go.. so if all goes as planned, we'll be in the area beginning of November.

Really loved the mountainous Buford area. LOVED it, actually. Suwanee was great too, loved the town center. What is the name of the townhomes/development area behind the center?

Those that live in Buford and Suwanee - What subdivisions are great, others to avoid, etc? Any bad areas or parts of town to avoid?

I believe it's called Shadowbrook. I live in Suwanee and love it. If you have specific questions, please ask!

For the Buford area, I would go near Lake Lanier and/or most of Sugar Hill ( next to Buford). I like parts of Suwanee, but don't know what to recommend you.

Do you have a particular price range? or some other preferences? - more info will help you some in getting more detailed answers.

Good luck.

Catchy thread title

Get with an agent that knows the area well and give some specifics - i.e. price range, areas, school districts, ease of travel, any criteria you might have. They'll be able to give you current info on either area, Buford or Suwanee.

From an agent standpoint, I can't help you with some things - it's up to you to check law enforcement, sexual offender registry, etc.

Glad you enjoyed your visit!

Depends on your price range -- so many houses to choose from. We lived in unincorporated Gwinnett so we paid lower taxes than Buford or Suwanee. We paid a bit more for gas (we had to buy from Buford) but still came out ahead. There is a great subdivision called Morningbrooke Subdivision that is about 225 homes -- prices are really good right now (as is the case with most subdivisions in the Greater Atlanta area). What's nice about this subdivision is the size and location, location, location.....easy access to Satellite Blvd. that takes you to I-85 or I-985......In around there lots of other subdivisions. The school systems in this area are great. There is the North Gwinnett HS cluster, Lanier High School cluster & Buford school system. Any of the schools would be good. There is a bit of a status thing with the North Gwinnett cluster but it is unjustly considered to be a 'better' area. Lanier High School is new and is benefiting from all kinds of new academic programs. It's smaller and is becoming a great school for the community. A quick visit to any of the schools will show you that any of them would be good schools.

When did Buford become "mountainous"?? Did I miss something? Hilly, maybe- but mountainous? No.....
