ya'll208 up, 200 downThe wrong spelling of y'all.
That source is truly messed up!

There is no 'are' in the sentence:

"Y'all crazy!"

Carry on, y'all.

Ya'll is way older than sixty years and so is the South. The South has changed a lot in the past sixty years. Ya is archaic now. So as new Southerners try to may sense of this great word, ya all has changed to you all. This heritage is still ya all or more appropriately ya'll. Just ask Faulkner.

Lol, no, I don't think so. I ain't saying ya'll does not mean you all. I ain't even saying that modern educated people don't spell it y'all. A New York Times reporter in 1886 was a modern, educated person for his time. While that was an interesting read, it still ain't no evidence that ya'll should be spelled that other way. Now, don't get me started on "ain't.

From today's AJC:

Varsity has football Saturdays

"Waiting on them is a phalanx of 34 servers behind the 17 registers on the 150-foot stainless steel countertop, all hailing customers with the traditional “What’ll ya have?” as if they’re tired of waiting for folks to make up their collective minds."

I rest my case.

Just a reporter/editor error. In this case, I believe the correct spelling would be "Whatdahyuh-HAVE, whatdahyuh-have?"

Ya, indeed.

I'm not an educated person but I've always spelled it y'all and don't recall seeing it spelled any other way. In the south or elsewhere.

These days I hear "y'all" and "you guys" used pretty much interchangeably and with equal frequency.
